14.8 cm high nickel-plated iron goblet with circumferential brass band featuring portraits of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Emperor Wilhelm II, as well as the inscription “1914 Kriegs-Becher 1916” and “Den eisernen Becher den vollen, weiht den eisernen Helden der eisernen Zeit!” (The full iron goblet, dedicated to the iron heroes of the iron age!), beneath the portraits of the emperors engravings with quotations from both emperors. The nickel plating and interior gilding show age. Condition 2-.

The dolman in dark blue cloth with black braiding and black lace, three rows of seven hemispherical brass buttons with the “Flaming Grenade” and crossed cannon barrels, the short standing collar with red piping and red collar patches with the regimental number “32” embroidered in blue, the sleeves with red cuffs, above them the gold lace for the sergeant, on the shoulders the dark red plaited cords with two buttons each. Interior with white linen lining, in the shoulder area the manufacturer's stamp “Olivier Dacosta & Cie ...”, lower left the acceptance mark of “1902”. Slightly worn, with moth traces, a small repair on the left sleeve. Condition 2-.

Circa 1917. The tunic of soft horizon blue dyed fabric with turn-down collar, a single row of eight hemispherical brass buttons with “Flaming Grenade” and crossed cannon barrels, two breast and two hip pockets, each with curved flap, the cuffs in base color, on the shoulders with cloth tabs, on the sleeves each with one chevron for the sergeant, on the collar the triangular patches in red with ash-gray soutache for the heavy artillery introduced in 1917, on the left shoulder attached the “Fourragère” (lanyard awarded to units that distinguished themselves in battle for the French Republic). Lined with light blue fabric. With moth traces and minor repairs. Condition 2-.

Very rare! The “Blue Army” (Armia Polska we Francji/ Błękitna Armia) was the name of the Polish forces formed in France in June 1917 during World War I and fighting on the side of the Entente.

Circa 1800. Silver on brass chain, diameter 4.75 cm, obverse shows the portrait of John Jervis, 1st Earl of St. Vincent, surrounded by the inscription “Earl St Vincents Testim[o]ny of Approbation. 1800”, reverse depicts a sailor and a marine before the Union Jack, crown above, inscription “Loyal and True”, the edge engraved “to Mr. Js. Baker, actl. Purser of the Ville de Paris from April 1797 to Aug. 1800.”. Condition 2.

The medal was awarded exclusively to members of Admiral John Jervis's crew who followed him from his flagship HMS “Victory” during the Battle of the Saintes in 1782 and assisted in the capture of the French flagship “Ville de Paris”, as well as those who remained loyal to him during the Nore Mutiny in 1797.
The Purser was an officer responsible for provisions and supply of the crew. Baker evidently served faithfully to his Admiral during the Battle of the Saintes and the Nore Mutiny.
At the time of the award, he was stationed aboard HMS “Ville de Paris”, a ship of the line named after the French ship of the line captured in 1782.

Interior with black silk lining. Attached to the left sleeve an old collection/museum label. Very well preserved. Condition 2.

Circa 1750/60. Small enameled snuff box made of non-ferrous metal. Exterior decorated with star-shaped ornaments and flowers. Interior of lid features a portrait of a nobleman wearing a coat with ermine trim and a bicorne hat. Dimensions 5.1 x 3.1 x 3.9 cm. Shows signs of use, interior enamel with three small repairs. Second prize in pistol shooting competition of the grand naval marksmanship contest at the naval base in La Spezia on May 20, 1912.  Large silver-plated handled bowl, with handles on the sides in the form of fish, diameter 23 cm, height 21 cm. Engraved on the obverse with the crowned Italian eagle before anchor with inscription “Regia Marina Gara di Tiro con la Pistola - II. Premio - La Spezia, 20. Maggio 1912”. Bronze plaque with approximately 10 cm diameter, at the center the portrait of Napoleon in profile relief as Consul wearing the olive wreath, inscription “Napoléon 1er Consul”, at the shoulder the artist's initials “F.A.”, at the upper edge suspension loop with ring. Napoleon held the title of Consul from November 9, 1799 until his coronation as Emperor on December 2, 1804.

Comes in a white binder and includes a Certificate of Authenticity issued by George Burgard's son, dated 2005. The binder contains 16 small photographs and two large reprinted photographs, an “Air Line Association” membership card, two post-war reunion leaflets from 1979 and 1983, and six letters from George to his son Lee. Also included are his ATC (Air Transport Command) wings (as listed in the COA), American Airlines pilot wings and cap badge, with one photograph showing George wearing the AA wings; It is unclear whether the portrait of the American Airlines pilot depicts Burgard or one of his colleagues, overall condition: 2

The coat made of olive drab wool with standing collar, sewn-in shoulder loops, four patch pockets and a single row of five black-painted eagle buttons, on the collar the “US” buttons and the infantry branch insignia button with crossed rifles and company letter “K”, on the upper left sleeve the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 86th Infantry Division with eagle and monogram “BH”, on the right sleeve the chevrons for corporal, on the lower left sleeve the overseas service chevron, below the division insignia the red honorable discharge chevron. Interior with black cloth lining, at the inner hem tailor label “Siegel Bros. & Goodman New York … July 29, 1918”. Condition 2.

The division was formed in 1917 at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, and participated in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.

Circa 1910. The field tunic made of finest dark blue cloth, concealed button placket, the buttons covered with very fine black thread, curved pocket flaps, low standing collar with silver embroidery with gold rank stars for Colonel, on the left breast the loops for the large order clasp, in the uppermost buttonhole, the wardrobe label “Wardrobe of His Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. ...”. Interior with black silk lining, the number “VIII” embroidered in the shoulder area, the sleeves lined inside with white silk, this somewhat worn. Condition 2.

Ernst August (II) was the son of King George V of Hanover. After the defeat against Prussia and the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover in 1866, he accompanied his father into exile in Austria. Emperor Franz Joseph appointed him Colonel of the Austrian Army. In 1879 he was appointed Proprietor of K.u.K. Infantry Regiment No. 42. He died in 1923 in Gmunden.

In 1868 the family acquired several buildings in Penzing in Vienna, which were expanded into a palace and served the family as a residence in Vienna. Under Ernst August (II) the property was named “Palais Cumberland”. Simultaneously the residence in Gmunden was expanded. When the Guelphs went into exile in 1866, they also took large portions of their possessions with them, including many weapons and equipment items of the former Hanoverian Army. Over time, these returned to the Guelph castle Marienburg and were auctioned in 2005 at the large Sotheby's auction.

Chamber piece 1832. Heavy, curved blade, 3.45 cm wide and 87.6 cm long, with wide fullers on both sides, multiple stamps on the obverse, maker’s mark and date “December 1832” in Old Russian script on the spine, blade cleaned with fine rust pitting/staining. Brass hilt with three bars and leather-covered grip with intact wire wrapping, various hallmarks on the reverse and on the obverse of the knuckle bow. Steel scabbard with two ring bands and movable suspension rings, upper band stamped “39 405” on the obverse, scabbard with staining. Condition 2.

Overall length 105 cm.

4th century A.D. The folding stool crafted from iron with damascene inlay of gold wire. The leather seat surface reconstructed in modern times. Height 66 cm. Condition 2+.

The object originates from Great Britain and was in the possession of a renowned antiquities collector since the 1990s. In 2021 it was acquired by a Spanish private collector and in 2023 sold at the Munich auction house Hermann Historica.

Extremely rare and of historical significance! Folding stools are known from pictorial and written sources as part of Roman domestic culture, but are very rarely preserved in archaeological contexts. The gold damascening furthermore indicates a high-ranking and wealthy individual as the owner of the folding stool. We are very pleased to be able to offer you this piece!

Heinz Keßler (* January 26, 1920 in Lauban; † May 2, 2017 in Berlin) was a German Army General and politician of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He was a member of the Council of Ministers of the GDR, Minister of National Defense and deputy of the Volkskammer of the GDR. He belonged to the SED Central Committee, the Politburo and the National Defense Council of the GDR. In the border guard trials he was sentenced to seven and a half years imprisonment for manslaughter.

The complete estate of Army General and Minister of National Defense Heinz Keßler was auctioned on October 16, 2021 at the Carsten Zeige Auction House in Berlin.

Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia was the youngest daughter of Tsar Alexander III. She was born on June 13, 1882 in St. Petersburg. She was married to Prince Peter of Oldenburg; this marriage was annulled in 1916. Due to the October Revolution, she fled to Denmark to her mother Maria Feodorovna. After World War II, she emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1960.

There is damage to the right trouser leg; some fraying at the end of the legs, otherwise, the trousers are in good condition.

Cromwell Stacey, a colonel in the 308th Infantry Regiment of the 77th Division, was the regimental commander of the “Lost Battalion” during the Battle of the Argonne Forest in World War I. He was part of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. The 1st and 2nd Battalions, led by Maj. Charles Whittlesey, were ordered to attack the Argonne Forest, and on October 2, 1918, they broke through German lines into the Charlevaux Ravine. This is when the story of the “Lost Battalion” began, as they became cut off and surrounded by the Germans.

Cork helmet with olive green cloth covering and nickel silver fittings, front bearing the distinctive unit emblem, a crowned star with applied coat of arms inscribed “Universitas Cantabrigiensis” on the bandeau below and above the arms the cipher “CVR”, cross-piece with rose screws, one replaced period, the spike removable. Complete with chin strap. Interior with brown sweatband and remains of red silk lining, around the ventilation hole the maker “Samuel Brothers London”, the visors lined in green on the interior. Size approximately 54. Together with the bandolier of brown leather with nickel silver fittings, the cartridge box at front again with the distinctive coat of arms. Condition 2.

A special exhibit! Since the 19th century, marksmanship training has been practiced at Cambridge University and was part of the education of students and future officers. During the Second Boer War 1899-1902, a volunteer corps was formed at the university, the Cambridge University Rifle Volunteers, which were attached to the Suffolk Regiment and served in South Africa.

Multiple stamps inside, however the manufacturer and year are difficult to read, clearly legible unit stamp “19e de L.”. Waist circumference approx. 93 cm, length approx. 98 cm. Shows wear with minor signs of aging, some buttons replaced with period examples. Condition 2.

The regiment has a long tradition. Founded in 1597 as Régiment de Lesdiguières, disbanded in 1815 and reestablished in 1816 as Légion des Hautes-Alpes. From 1854 to 1882 it was designated as 19e régiment d'infanterie de ligne and subsequently redesignated as 19e régiment d'infanterie.

Stationed at Reims. Depot piece, 1881. Light blue dolman with white braiding and silver-colored buttons, unit number “3” embroidered in red on the standing collar. Interior lined with light linen fabric, various depot stamps from the years 1881, 1883, and 1884. Shows wear and age. Condition 2-.

Es handelt sich hierbei um ein Ausstellungsstück für Museen, um 1900. Sehr feine Arbeit in bester Juweliersqualität. Der insgesamt ca. 49 cm lange Zylinder außen mit blauem Samt verkleidet, darauf in mehren Reihen aufgelegt der französische Hoheitsadler, die Kappen fein ziseliert, die Kappe am Kopfende mit der Inschrift "Terror Belli Decus Pacis" (Schrecken im Krieg, Zierde in Friedenszeiten), am Kopf wiederum der französische Hoheitsadler, die untere Kappe mit dem Namen des Marschalls "Bazaine" sowie dem französischen Wappen am Kopfende. Zustand 2.

In Frankreich erhielten die Marschälle seit dem 18. Jahrhundert den Baton fleurdelisé, der mit blauem Samt überzogen und mit heraldischen Lilien belegt war. Auf den Enden sind auf einer Seite der Name des Inhabers und auf der anderen das Motto "Terror belli decus pacis" angebracht. Die späteren kaiserlichen und republikanischen Marschallstäbe sind statt mit Lilien mit napoleonischen Adlern bzw. Sternen belegt.

Achille Bazaine (1811*) nahm während des Krimkriegs (1853-56) an der Belagerung von Sewastopol teil und war 1859 im Sardinischen Krieg beteiligt. 1863 ging er als Divisionskommandeur nach Mexiko, wo er nach dem Abgang des Marschalls Élie-Frédéric Forey den Oberbefehl über die dort konzentrierte französische Armee übernahm. Nach der Eroberung von Mexiko-Stadt wurde 1864 das Kaiserreich Maximilians I. proklamiert. Am 5. September 1864 wurde Bazaine zum Marschall von Frankreich ernannt und kehrte 1866 aus Mexiko zurück. Während des Deutsch-Französischen Krieges kommandierte er die französische Rheinarmee und musste 27. Oktober 1870 mit ca. 170.000 Mann in der eingeschlossenen Festung Metz, nachdem die Lebensmittelvorräte aufgebraucht waren, kapitulieren.

The Greater German People's Party (GDVP or GdP) was a political party in Austria. It was founded on August 8, 1920 in Salzburg from the Greater German Association, a coalition of German-national and German-liberal minded representatives founded in 1919 by Franz Dinghofer, and existed until the party ban in 1934. Up to 17 groups belonged to it. Many of its members were civil servants or teachers at secondary schools.

um 1860/80. Ringkragen in vergoldeter Buntmetallausführung und dem aufgelegten russischen Doppeladler mit Inschrift:„Für Glauben, Zar und Vaterland – 25. August 1831.“ «За Веру, Царя и Отечество» «25-го Августа 1831 года». Rückseitig mit dunkelblauer Tuchunterlage. Sehr schönes Exemplar in guter Erhaltung.

Der 25. August 1831 (nach dem damals in Russland verwendeten julianischen Kalender; entspricht dem 6. September 1831 im gregorianischen Kalender) ist das Datum der Erstürmung Warschaus während des Polnischen Novemberaufstands (1830–1831). Viele Regimenter der Kaiserlich Russischen Armee, die sich bei der Einnahme Warschaus besonders auszeichneten, erhielten anschließend das Recht, diese Ehreninschrift auf ihren Offiziersringkragen zu tragen. (Die Jahreszahl 1831 bezeichnet nicht das Herstellungsjahr des Ringkragens, sondern den Anlass der Auszeichnung). Der Ringkragen selbst dürfte deutlich später entstanden sein, wahrscheinlich: nach 1855, da der Adler bereits die Form der Regierungszeit Alexanders II. zeigt, vermutlich zwischen etwa 1860 und 1881, eventuell auch noch unter Alexander III. getragen. Die blaue Unterlage deutet darauf hin, dass der Ringkragen zu einem Regiment gehörte, dessen Uniform diese Waffenfarbe führte.
