May 10, 1940 was a significant day in World War II. On this day, the German Wehrmacht launched the Western Campaign, a large-scale offensive against France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. This campaign, also known as “Case Yellow” (Fall Gelb), came as a surprise to the Allied forces and marked the beginning of the rapid advance of German troops that became known as “Blitzkrieg.”

Non-portable award of the General Inspector for Road Construction Dr. Ing. Fritz Todt for leading personnel in the construction of the Reichsautobahnen. Heavy porcelain plaque, partially glazed, partially in biscuit porcelain, manufactured by KPM (Königlich Preußischen Porzellanmanufaktur), dimensions 13.5 x 13.5 cm. The obverse depicts Greater Germany with the Reichsautobahnen completed by 1941. The reverse bears the inscription "Für die Mitarbeit am Bau der Reichsautobahnen Dank und Anerkennung - Dr. Todt Im Jahre der Entscheidung 1941" (For cooperation in the construction of the Reichsautobahnen, thanks and recognition - Dr. Todt In the year of decision 1941). With impressed KPM mark. Undamaged, condition 2+.

Dr. Fritz Todt served from 1933 as General Inspector for Road Construction and was responsible, among other duties, for the construction of the Autobahn system. From 1940, he was Reich Minister for Armaments and Munitions and thus responsible for the entire war industry. In 1942, Dr. Todt was killed in an aircraft crash.

In 1847 he founded together with Lorenz Lippert of Magdeburg the company Coste & Lippert Sugar and Colonial Goods Trading.Coste was since 1855 a member of the Council of Elders of the Magdeburg Corporation of Merchants, he was deputy chairman of the Association of the Beet Sugar Industry of the German Reich.
