From the official report “With the intention of bringing together the largest possible number of sport pilots from all countries for the opening of the XI Olympic Games, the Aero-Club von Deutschland, at the suggestion of the Organizing Committee, organized an International Star Flight to Rangsdorf airfield near Berlin from July 29 to 30, 1936, which was open only to foreign participants. Aircraft of all categories, land and seaplanes, up to 2500 kg takeoff weight were admitted to this competition. Each participant was required to complete a minimum distance of 500 km.
By the entry deadline, the Aero-Club von Deutschland had received entries from 16 nations with a total of 54 aircraft. Austria was most strongly represented with 9 aircraft, one of which was piloted by the President of the Österreichischer Aero-Club, Prince Kinsky. Of the foreign nations, France entered 7 aircraft, Belgium, Poland and Czechoslovakia each 5, England, Holland and Hungary each 4, Italy and Sweden each 3, and Chile, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Japan each 1 aircraft.”
