The commemorative medal for Upper Silesia was established in 1926 by the leader of the Bund Alt-Oberland, retired Captain Oestreicher, for former members of Freikorps Oberland.

Toned non-ferrous metal, obverse featuring the collar insignia, reverse inscribed “Die Deutsche Schutzdivision ihrem bewährten Mitkämpfer für Gesetz u. Recht 1919” (The German Protection Division to its proven comrade-in-arms for law and order 1919), with suspension loop and attached beer stein tab, condition 2. Very rare, offered by us for the second time.

The Deutsche Schutzdivision was formed in January 1919 in Zossen from the 31st Infantry Division and was deployed to suppress the Spartacist Uprising in Berlin. Later reorganized into the Reichswehr-Brigade.

Large heavy bronze plaque, 87 x 145 mm, obverse depicting: nude soldier protecting a young oak sapling, reverse inscribed "Landes-Schützen Korps - Deutsche Schutzdivision - Reichswehr Brigade 4 1919-1920". Condition 2.

The badge of the Schutztruppe Bug was established on February 1, 1919 by Major Kobe von Koppenfels with approval of the General Command of the Landwehr Corps. The design was created by Koppenfels with support from Rittmeister Meybauer, the proprietor of the insignia firm.

The Grenzschutz Ost was the collective designation for the units established in 1918/1919 (Freikorps, volunteer units, Selbstschutz Oberschlesien, etc.) that were to assume protection of the eastern border and eastern territories of the German Reich until the final border demarcation.
The Grenzschutz Ost formed part of the Provisional Reichswehr with headquarters in Bartenstein/East Prussia and Breslau. Operational command was exercised by the Oberste Heeresleitung (OHL), whose headquarters was located in Kolberg from February 1919.
