Sabre de troupe d'Artillerie à cheval modèle de 1829. Chamber piece 1832. Strongly curved blade, approximately 3.3 cm wide at the ricasso and 80 cm long, with wide fuller on both sides, on the back edge with control stamps on the false edge, on the spine the somewhat worn maker's mark “[M]anuf-Rle [de] [C]hâtellerault [Nov] 1832”, the blade stained and nicked. Brass hilt with simple knuckle guard, stamped with various marks, leather-covered wooden grip, the wire wrapping largely missing. Blued steel scabbard with one ring band and movable suspension ring, the ring band and drag stamped, with surface rust. Condition 2-3.

Circa 1860/70. Polished blade approximately 2.8 cm wide at the ricasso and 92 cm long, with wide fuller on both sides and accompanying groove below the back edge, false edge bearing manufacturer's mark “Manuf_re Nat_le de Klingenthal Coulaux ainé & Cie”, reverse side of short false edge with two manufacturer's inspection marks. Brass hilt with one main guard and two side branches, black wooden grip with complete but slightly loose wire wrap, grip shows minor damage at top. Old collection label attached to hilt. Steel scabbard with two ring mounts and movable suspension rings, drag marked “C&C F”, scabbard heavily pitted with surface rust. Condition 2-3.

Overall length approximately 111 cm.

With some effort, this piece could be nicely restored by a collector.

Dated 1885. Blade approximately 3 cm wide and 92 cm long with fullers on both sides, on the obverse panel the name “Léopold Gouhier”, on the spine the manufacturer “M_re d'Armes de Châtellerault - 8_bre 1885 - Off_er de Cav_rie M_le 1883 - Ent_se Henry”, on the reverse on the short ricasso with three proof marks. Partially decorated brass hilt with one main guard and two auxiliary guards, the pommel on the back with the cipher “LG”, the grip of turned horn with intact wire wrap, the main guard with two proof marks. Blued steel scabbard with one ring band and movable suspension ring. Condition 2.

Overall length approximately 109.5 cm.

Very well preserved and maintained weapon! Very unusual for French weapons is the bearer's name on the blade and the cipher on the grip cap.

Due to the coat of arms on the blade back, possibly also a saber of the Swiss artillery.

German manufacture circa 1806/10. Blade measuring approximately 2.8 cm wide at the ricasso and 83.3 cm long, with fullers on both sides, the lower third of the blade decorated on both sides with gilded engravings, on both sides a hussar with raised saber, on the reverse side the maker “frères Weyersberg fabts a Solingen”, the middle third of the blade etched on both sides, somewhat faded, the blade darkened, the point slightly out of alignment. Steel hilt with simple knuckle bow and bar-shaped middle guard, complete pommel cap, leather-wrapped grip with intact wire binding. Ribbed steel scabbard with applied polyhedral mounts and movable suspension rings. Condition 2.

France Model 1829 Saber for Officers of the Mounted Artillery in Deluxe Execution for a High-Ranking Officer from the Period of the Citizen King Louis-Philippe

(Sabre d'Artillerie à cheval, modèle de 1819). Circa 1830/40. Curved damascus blade, with fuller on both sides and rounded back, the damascus pattern worked out only in the upper third for aesthetic reasons, obverse with gilt floral decoration, on the back the maker “Lepage” as well as the motto “Arq. du Roi”, the blade only slightly spotted. Gilt and finely chiseled brass hilt, the pommel cap decorated with a large fleur-de-lis, horn grip with intact gilt wire wrapping, the horn with two small damages. Bright steel scabbard with two ring bands and movable suspension rings, somewhat spotted. Condition 2.

Circa 1851/52. Slender blade, triangular in cross-section, approximately 1.4 cm wide at the forte and 75 cm long, with a punch mark on one flat. Finely chiseled, gilt brass hilt, the pommel decorated on obverse and reverse with the characteristic “bee,” the guard featuring the eagle looking over the right shoulder (1851/52 during the Presidency, still without crown), the grip with mother-of-pearl grip scales. Black lacquered leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. Condition 2.
