Reichsbahn Water Protection Dagger Model 1938 for Reichsbahnschutzführer in Higher Service

This is a product manufactured by Eickhorn, Solingen. The construction is identical to regular Reichsbahn Water Protection daggers, however all fittings are in gold-plated execution! The grip and scabbard fittings in gold-plated non-ferrous metal, black grip section. Nickel-plated blade with manufacturer marking "Original Eickhorn Solingen". Lightly worn, in very fine condition.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn operated several railway ferries in the Third Reich that traveled between Germany and Denmark. The few railway protection officers who served on these ships wore this dagger together with a navy-like dark blue uniform. The dagger for Reichsbahn Water Protection officers in gold for higher service was reserved only for officials from Reichsbahnschutzführer rank upward (rank comparable to a Major General). There were probably no more than 3-4 bearers, certainly one of the rarest daggers of the Third Reich.

This is a very fine example manufactured by Robert Klaas Solingen. All fittings in non-ferrous metal, the nickel plating on the pommel already darkened, black plastic grip with a chip on the reverse side, clean blade, maker's mark “Robert Klaas Solingen”, the scabbard without significant damage, complete with Army portepee. The dagger shows minimal wear and is in good condition. Very rare. Condition 2
