Hessen Säbel für Offiziere Infanterie

Um 1900. Leicht gekrümmte vernickelte Klinge, beidseitig gekehlt und geätzt, terzseitig mit hessischem Wappen im Panel, auf Klingenrücken mit Markierung des Lieferanten "Mohre & Speyer, Hoflieferanten Köln.", quartseitig auf Fehlschärfe Markierung des Herstellers "P. O & Co." (Pack, Ohliger & Companie), die Vernicklung zur Spitze hin schon etwas abgenutzt, die Ätzungen aber sehr schön erhalten. Messinggefäß mit durchbrochen gearbeitetem Griffbügel, Rochenhautgriff, die Haut aber nur noch zu etwa 30% erhalten, die Drahtwicklung etwas aus der Form, Fingerschlaufe und Stoßleder vorhanden. Blanke Stahlscheide mit zwei Ringbändern und beiden beweglichen Ringen, die Scheide schon etwas stärker fleckig. Zustand 2-3.

Grand Duchy of Hesse Cavalry Extra Saber (KD) 89 for a Member of the Leib-Dragoner-Regiment (2nd Grand Ducal Hessian) No. 24

Stationed at Darmstadt. Private purchase item, circa 1910. Double-edged etched blade with fuller, obverse side showing cavalry scene and reverse side “Hess. Leib Drag. Regt. No. 24” in cartouche, maker’s mark “P.D.L.” (P.D. Lüneschloss) on ricasso, the nickel-plated blade with light pitting. Fixed guard with Hessian lion, black synthetic grip. Grip cracked towards pommel, guard with remnants of nickel plating, somewhat corroded. Black lacquered steel scabbard with one fixed carrying ring, showing considerable wear, condition 2-3.

Coppel Solingen”, arsenal mark “Erfurt”, acceptance mark “W 93”, brass hilt with pierced knuckle guard, various inspection stamps, ray skin grip with intact wire wrapping, with sword knot and leather washer, blued steel scabbard originally with 2 suspension rings, lower one removed, slightly dented toward the tip, otherwise still very well preserved, rare. Circa 1910. Slightly curved fullered blade with ricasso, etched on both sides, blade width approximately 2.3 cm, length approximately 80 cm, centered on both sides of the blade the royal cipher “L”, edge combat-sharpened, portions of the etching near the edge ground away as a result, on the quarte side toward the spine of the blade with maker's mark. Pierced and florally decorated brass hilt, shagreen grip with intact wire wrapping, finger loop torn. Blued steel scabbard with two suspension rings and one movable suspension ring, the lower one removed per regulation. Condition 2.

Slightly curved fullered blade of Damascus steel, with fuller, without discernible maker's mark, gilt brass hilt with lion's head, rather simple knuckle guard terminating in a lion's head, on the quillon block the head of Pallas Athena, shagreen grip with intact wire wrapping, bright steel scabbard with two suspension rings, attached Hessian officer's sword knot, minor signs of age and use, otherwise very well preserved. Condition 2

Hessen-Darmstadt Cavalry Extra Saber (KD) 89 for a Member of the Garde-Dragoner-Regiment (1. Großherzoglich Hessisches) Nr. 23

Location Darmstadt circa 1910. Nickel-plated blade with fullers and etching on both sides, width approximately 2.3 cm, length approximately 79.5 cm, on the obverse near the ricasso with maker's mark of Eickhorn in Solingen, on the reverse in the panel the inscription “Garde Drag. Reg. (1. Großh. Hess.) No 23” as well as the cipher “L”, on the obverse in the inscription band “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit”. Folding nickel hilt on both sides with the Hessian lion in the guard, with rubber grip, the hilt somewhat dulled, the guard slightly deformed, blade somewhat loose in the hilt. Black lacquered steel scabbard with one suspension ring and fixed carrying ring, the scabbard re-lacquered in earlier times. Condition 2.

Slightly curved blade of genuine Damascus steel, plug-in back with fuller, without discernible maker's mark, etched on both sides, “To the departing comrade Hptm. v.Westernhagen - Gießen 1900 -”, “The Officer Corps of the Inf.=Regts. Kaiser Wilhelm (2.Groß.Hess.) Nr. 116”, brass hilt with pierced basket guard, ray skin grip with intact wire binding, unfortunately the finger loop is missing, steel scabbard refinished in old black lacquer with one brass carrying ring, worn piece in good condition.
