Hamburg Civic Militia Saber for Enlisted Men of the Artillery
Similar to the briquet common in that period, except that here the slightly curved wedge-shaped blade is etched on both sides, depicting the Hamburg city coat of arms, crossed cannon barrels, cannonballs, grenades and mortars, the blade spine decorated with floral motifs, no maker's mark, cleaned pitting toward the forte, one-piece brass hilt with grooved grip, rudimentary pommel cap and simple knuckle guard, repaired leather scabbard, the brass mounts rather following English pattern, with shield-shaped carrying hook, quite good condition, rare. Condition 2-3
