Circa 1914. Elegant helmet made of vulcanized fiber, complete with all fittings in gilt finish. Front features the Baden griffin, finely crafted and gilded, for officers with pierced crown. The plate as for enlisted men with ball-head screws, the neck for officers with beaded edge, the ball removable. Domed scale chin chains on rosettes, both cockades in the version for enlisted men. The neck guard for officers without ventilation slide. Interior with brown leather sweatband and brown silk rep lining, the front visor lined in green and the rear visor in red. Inside the bell, handwritten size “57”. Very well preserved! Condition 2+.

Circa 1910. Leather helmet, complete with all fittings in gilt finish. On the front the “Baden Griffin” with the motto band «Mit Gott f. Fuerst u. Vaterland» in the officer's pattern, finely worked with polished edges and openwork crown. Flat scale chin chains on button 91 as for enlisted men, with both cockades in officer's pattern. The spike is non-removable, the base plate with star screws for officers. Interior with brown leather sweatband and brown grosgrain lining, the rear visor lined in red, the front visor unlined, handwritten size «56» in the bell. The bell has two period repairs in the area of the screws, a third old hole at the front below the emblem. Condition 2.

Home stations Mannheim/Heidelberg. Chamber piece 1905, adapted to Model 1915 in 1915. Leather helmet, complete with all fittings in iron painted field gray. Front bears the Baden griffin, leather chin strap on button 91, both cockades present. The spike with bayonet catch, removable. Interior with stitched leather lining, the neck guard with chamber stamp “G.R. 110 1.B 1905”. Inside the shell front shows remains of a removed owner's label. Size approximately 55. Condition 2.

A very interesting piece! This is a chamber piece from 1905, which was adapted in 1915 to the new Model 15 by applying iron field gray fittings.

Home garrison Karlsruhe. Personal item circa 1915. Elegant leather helmet nearly of peacetime quality, complete with all fittings in field gray, predominantly non-magnetic material, likely war metal. Front helmet plate features the Baden Griffin with the star of the House Order of Fidelity in field gray or substitute version, the arms of the cross with remnants of the original red paint. Flat scale chin chains on rosettes, both cockades present. The spike base with gilded stars, the spike removable. Interior with brown sweatband and reddish-brown silk grosgrain lining, the front visor lined in green and the neck guard lined in red, inside the bell the owner’s label “Leutnant Alfons von Carlowitz 1. Badisches Leibgrenadier Regiment”, label with handwritten size “57”. Condition 2.

A very fine untouched helmet! Lieutenant von Carlowitz is listed in the Honor Roll of the Former German Army for the 1st Baden Life Grenadier Regiment No. 109 on page 287. He was reported missing in action on July 19, 1918 in the area of Ploisy-Chaudun (Northern France).

Karlsruhe, circa 1910. Elegant leather helmet, complete with all fittings in silver-plated finish. Front helmet plate features the silver-plated Baden Griffin, with applied star of the House Order of Fidelity, finely enameled and gilded. The bandeau beneath the griffin for reserve officers without inscription, the far right end of the bandeau is broken but concealed by the chin scales, therefore barely visible. Below the breast star is the silver-plated Landwehr cross with motto “Mit Gott für Fürst und Vaterland” (With God for Prince and Fatherland). Flat gilded chin scales on silver rosettes, both cockades present. Silver base plate with gilded star screws. Complete with tall elegant dress spike. Interior with brown sweatband, reddish-brown silk lining, size 55 1/2. The helmet is in worn condition. The seam of the left ear leather is broken. The lining with a small hole. A rare helmet with minor defects.
