German Empire World War I Field Flask Model 1915/17

Simplified version 1918. The flask made of steel sheet metal painted field gray inside and outside, the cover made of coarse olive-green dyed fabric, instead of snap fasteners already equipped with five metal eyelets with the original black cord. Complete with the cork stopper on the corrugated iron cap and the iron carrying carabiner on the strap, which is sewn to the cover. The cover externally stamped with the manufacturer’s mark “Emanuel Kühn Karlsruhe 1918”. Condition 2.

This piece originates from a depot in Liège. The field flasks were increasingly simplified during the course of the war and, due to raw material shortages, were increasingly manufactured using substitute materials. For the soldier, water supply was of highest priority. From 1918 onward, each frontline soldier was to receive two field flasks instead of one, which doubled the demand for this important item once again.
