circa 1916. Double-edged slightly curved blade. On the obverse side engraved in Arabic script the “Shahada” - the Islamic profession of faith. On the reverse side the “Tughra” of Sultan Mehmed V with star and crescent, below the year 1334 according to Islamic calendar (1916 A.D.), below in Turkish characters the number “4068”. Hilt and scabbard of embossed and ornamentally decorated silver-plated brass sheet. A weapon with typical Oriental character, complete with original belt carrying loop. Lightly worn dagger in very good condition. These pieces were also worn by German soldiers serving in Turkish forces. Very rare. Condition 2
Pommel in the form of a turban, plain grip with stress cracks, S-shaped crossguard, slender blade, the first two-thirds rhomboid without fuller and etched, the last third with fullers, unfortunately shortened by approximately 5cm, unshortened brass scabbard with two suspension rings, somewhat dented, clearly worn. Condition 2-3
The blade with Ottoman script characters, the grip scales still flawless, the stampings still clearly visible, black leather scabbard with steel mounts, worn but still in quite good condition. Condition 2-
Circa 1910/20. Bright, slightly curved fullered spine blade, approximately 2.95 cm wide and 84 cm long with fuller, bearing a “crescent” mark on the spine. Hilt with simple steel knuckle guard, grip with screwed checkered horn grip scales mounted on a brass plate. Steel scabbard with one ring band with fixed suspension ring and a second applied movable suspension ring, throat mounting screws missing. Condition 2.
