Sachsen-Weimar

Saxony-Weimar Cartridge Box for Cavalry Officers

Circa 1860. The body made of sheet iron covered with black patent leather with partially gilt brass fittings, on the lid an applied brass star with the crowned coat of arms of Saxony-Weimar surrounded by a laurel wreath. The leather on the back is missing. Otherwise in very fine condition. Condition 2.

Very rare! Saxony-Weimar provided only a small hussar detachment for orderly and gendarmerie duties for the Federal Army, which was uniformed similarly to the Prussian Zieten Hussars.
