This piece originates from a collection of Hanoverian edged weapons.
Following the dissolution of the Hanoverian Army by the Convention of Artlenburg on July 5, 1803, many of its soldiers entered British service and formed the foundation of the King's German Legion (KGL), which was established on December 19, 1803. The KGL comprised, among other units, two light infantry battalions alongside line infantry, cavalry, and artillery.
