Belgian [?] Saber for Enlisted Men of the Light Cavalry

Circa 1860/70. Saber similar to the French Model 1822 saber. Heavy blade, approximately 3.2 cm wide and 90.8 cm long, polished, with wide fullers on both sides, without markings. Brass hilt with one main guard and two side guards, the number “11” stamped on the knuckle bow side, leather-covered wooden grip with intact wire wrapping, the leather with losses. Steel scabbard with two ring mounts and movable suspension rings. Condition 2.

Dutch Police Enlisted Man's Saber, similar to the “Sabre Briquet”

Slightly curved wedge blade with the point in the back, somewhat spotted, with manufacturer's mark "Carl Eickhorn Solingen", black leather scabbard with brass fittings, the throat with round carrying button, closed seam, very well preserved. Condition 2-

Enlisted men's sabers of this type were widespread throughout Europe, and were also used in part by the Navy or the Police.
