German Order of the German Eagle Breast Star for the Cross 1st Class
1st Model 1937-1939. Breast star silver gilt, the center finely enameled, the national eagles gilt. Reverse stamped “Silber 800” on the narrow pin bar. Lightly worn, in good condition.
The breast star 1st Model differs distinctly from the later pieces awarded from 1939 onwards: the star body is still made of heavier solid silver construction, the form of the enameled cross varies, and the national eagles are still noticeably larger. This version is rarely found.
