Infantry Assault Badge in Silver - Prototype!
circa 1940. This is the well-known prototype by the firm Christian Lauer, Nürnberg. Solid struck badge made of non-ferrous metal, silver-plated and toned, reverse marked with maker's designation “LN 1700 Lauer” (= firm Christian Lauer, Nürnberg), without pin assembly. Height 70 mm. Only minimal signs of age, in very good condition.
Extremely rare, only very few original pieces are known.
Unfortunately, there is not much information available on this prototype. Illustrations appear in the specialist literature in Angolia “For Führer and Fatherland” as well as in Nimmergut “Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945”.
