Swords

Circa 1900/1910. English manufacture, saber Model 1895/97. Nickel-plated blade, etched on both sides, decorated with floral patterns, Arabic inscription in bandeau on both sides, on the back edge with manufacturer marking “...Wilkinson Sword...”. Nickel-plated, pierced hilt, with coat of arms in the guard featuring coat of arms, crescent and crown, leather-covered grip with intact wire wrapping. Nickel-plated steel scabbard with two ring mounts and movable suspension rings. Only slight wear and age traces. Condition 2.

The Emirate of Bukhara was located north of Afghanistan. Central Asia with Afghanistan and Bukhara was the scene of the so-called “Great Game” in the 19th century, the conflict over spheres of influence between Great Britain and Russia. The saber dates from the period of Abdul-Ahad bin Muzaffar al-Din or Muhammad Alim Khan bin Abdul-Ahad. The latter was the last Emir of Bukhara and died in exile in Afghanistan.

Decorated pommel, the wooden grip is undamaged, clean blade without any markings, the scabbard is leather-covered, the scabbard mounts are made of brass, a very good collector's reproduction. Condition 2-

Double-edged blade with central fuller, maker's mark of Hörster on the ricasso, as well as the distributor's logo, gilt brass hilt without lions and without crown or rose on the pommel, smooth black plastic grip without wire wrapping, black leather scabbard with three gilt brass mounts, but only one suspension ring on the throat, light signs of age and use, very well preserved, with attached narrow sword knot.
