Egypt Painted Ancient Egyptian Sarcophagus Lid
Circa 600 B.C. Slightly trapezoidal wooden lid with rich painting, at the upper end a plastically carved face with wig. In the center a multi-tiered decorative collar is painted. Below, the kneeling Isis. Dimensions approximately 48.5 x 99 cm. On modern metal stand. Very good state of preservation, Condition 2+
The object originally comes from the German private collection N.B. It was examined in the 1950s by Dr. Manfred Weber from Köln and found to be authentic. In the 1980s the object was sold to Great Britain and acquired there in 2021 by a Spanish private collector. In 2023 the object was sold at the Munich auction house Hermann Historica.
