Ceremonial dagger for admirals of the Navy, light-colored grip, all fittings fire-gilded with polished edges, separately applied state emblem of the USSR on top of the grip piece, red star mounted on the pommel. On the grip piece with applied dedication plaque “From the High Command of the Navy Fleet of the USSR 1986”, on the crossguard “For Merit”. Nickel-plated blade, with etched design on obverse, manufacturer's mark of “Zik” at top, serial number “307” on reverse. Leather-covered scabbard with fire-gilded fittings, anchor on throat, sailing ship on reverse, lower fittings with oak leaf decoration. Complete in matching wooden presentation case, interior lined with red velvet. Unworn, condition 1a. Includes 2 belts each with suspension for parade and service uniforms.
Heinz Keßler (born January 26, 1920 in Lauban; died May 2, 2017 in Berlin) was a German Army General and politician of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He was member of the Council of Ministers of the GDR, Minister of National Defense, and deputy of the Volkskammer of the GDR. He belonged to the SED Central Committee, the Politburo, and the National Defense Council of the GDR. In the Berlin Wall shooting trials, he was sentenced to seven and a half years imprisonment for manslaughter.
The complete estate of Army General and Minister of National Defense Heinz Keßler was auctioned on October 16, 2021 at Auction House Carsten Zeige in Berlin.
