Anti-Partisan Badge in Silver - flat back

This is a piece manufactured by Steinhauer & Lück. Solidly constructed of fine zinc and silver-plated, pierced in three places, reverse with broad magnetic pin. Lightly worn, in good condition.

The badge was instituted on January 29, 1944 by Adolf Hitler and was valid retroactively from January 1, 1943. The award was to be conferred upon leaders, junior leaders and enlisted men of all units deployed in combat against partisans and was designed in three grades (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Himmler reserved for himself the presentation of the Anti-Partisan Badge in Gold. The conditions for the award were:
for the first grade (Bronze) – 20 combat days
for the second grade (Silver) – 50 combat days
for the third grade (Gold) – 100 combat days
As of October 5, 1944, the circle of persons who could receive this decoration was no longer restricted to members of the Wehrmacht, the Waffen-SS or the operational groups of the Security Police and the SD, but anyone who had actively participated in the so-called “anti-partisan operations” could receive it.
