circa 1938. The ensemble consists of the dark blue tunic with vest, full dress officer's sash and dress trousers, cocked hat with epaulettes in case, as well as the large cloak.
The long dark blue tunic is an elegant private purchase piece, manufactured from the finest cloth, complete with all appointments. Hand-embroidered bullion breast eagle, the buttons fire-gilt. On the sleeves with rank stripes as Kapitänleutnant zur See, on the shoulders with inserted shoulder straps and silver loops to hold the epaulettes that were worn on the tunic for full dress, the shoulder buttons with screws. On the chest, loops for a small ribbon bar. Interior black silk lining, in the inside pocket with tailor's label “F. Engert Wilhelmshaven,” the wearer's name entered by hand “Fähnr. Skibowski 26.2.32.” (manufactured in 1932 as Fähnrich and then accordingly “promoted” with him). With matching dark blue vest, with gilt buttons, interior gray silk lining, on the back adjustment strap also with tailor's label “F. Engert Wilhelmshaven,” the wearer's name entered by hand “Skibowski 15. Juli 1932.”
With matching long trousers for full dress in the same fine cloth quality. At sides with broad gold stripes, interior with sewn-in wearer's label “Skibowski.”
Kriegsmarine cocked hat, epaulettes and full dress officer's sash in carrying case, circa 1938. Elegant cocked hat with black needle felt covering, at sides with black grosgrain ribbon. Complete with the silk pleated cockade black/white/red, gold bullion and large gilt button with applied national eagle. Interior white sweatband and white silk lining, size 57. The epaulettes as Kapitänleutnant zur See, with gold fields, applied silver-plated anchor with chain, thin gold bullion. With the Kriegsmarine full dress officer's sash for officers, clasp in gilt base metal, on silver brocade sash with gray stripes. Complete in original case, interior stamped “Musterschutz D.R.G.M. No. 242340.” On the exterior, the handle of the case is torn off, the retaining strap damaged. Interior, however, all in condition 1a.
With the large cloak, called “Spanier.” Manufactured in the same fine cloth quality as the uniform, with dark blue collar, front with 2 gilt lion heads and fastening chain. Interior light gray silk lining, on back with beautiful woven tailor's label “F. Engert Wilhelmshaven” (this slightly damaged).
