Imperial Navy Full Dress Uniform from the Personal Property of King Friedrich August III as Colonel General in the Rank of Field Marshal a la suite of the I. Seebataillon
With the death of King Albert in June 1902 and his father's accession to the throne, Friedrich August became Crown Prince. His first duty as such was to announce the succession to various royal houses. He did so on July 2, 1902, in Kiel before Kaiser Wilhelm II, who immediately appointed him a la suite of the I. Seebataillon of the Marine Infantry. In 1904, Friedrich August ascended the throne and was, until his abdication in 1918, the last King of Saxony.
